Hi guys, I have a box that has to mimic a room. Usually i would make rectangular openings and thus use hexa-structured mesh. When i would import his model into CFX-pre all the openings would be there. But now i have to make circular openings in the box. If i use the same old hexa-structured mesh CFX-pre does not read the circular openings and only imports the box with no circular openings. Can i not have circular openings and use hexa-structured mesh at the same time? Do i need to use tetra meshes?

P.S: I do convert the hexa mesh at the end into unstructured mesh by righ-clicking on "pre-mesh" in the tree and and selecting "convert to unstructured mesh".

Help plz. Thanks you guys!

mostly you need to associate the edges to the circular opening curves. If you can post some images will be easy to understand your problem.

I have just attached the pic of my geometry. The circles on the top and bottom are the openings.

upload some images of your blocking, the edges are turned off. Pls turn on the edges and take the image.

You need to split the blocking to get additional edges to work with and then associate those with the openings... You probably should also be using OGrid to get decent quality mesh in the openings...

I have split the blocking in to additional edges as you can see in the picture i have uploaded. About association.... well i associated the closest edge of the block-splitting plane to the curve of the circular openings. And when i imported it to cfx-pre it still did not pick up the circular openings.

Scratch that.... just tell me guys, i have made openings in the geometry. I just cant get cfx-pre to recognize them. Do i need to i dont know..... associate them or something or does auto associate does it for me? I am defining each opening as a part but its still not being picked up. Help plz....

You don't need to send the uns file (I couldn't get it to download anyway), but the blk file would help... Just zip it and attach it in CFD-Online... It will be a small enough file...

It should associate faces to the closest part by default... You shouldn't have to do it explicitly.
