Hi Everyone.
I have made a model in Ansys workbench designer, and attempted to make mesh on it. Since the expected mesh is about 4M elements the system couldn't handle it and stopped working. the Intersting part was even I had to restart the system.
I tried doing the same mesh with just reducing the number to 400K ( reducing the number of divisions in length) and it can make my mesh. I also can make this mesh on Gambit with 4M cells and no problem.
The question is , is it possible to run Ansys mesh generator in parallel mode, so that It divides the process between some processors and some more RAM?
If it is possible how, and If you know where to read about it, please tell me.
Yours.

I think the problem is something other than mesh count... I personally know users who have generated 40 million cells in ANSYS Meshing (on a 64 bit machine), and routinely users generate in the 10 to 20 million cell range.

As for parallel meshing... that is algorithm specific.

Algorithms such as MultiZone, PI Tetra, Uniform QUAD and POST Prism can use shared memory parallel. Others, such as Patch conforming tetra, can not (yet).

Dear Simon,
Thanks for you comment. As I said when I decrease the number in length it is fine with meshing, and every thing else is kept the same, but when I increase it, this happens, and as I said even the computer crashes, so I think it is not my fault. but my computers fault. The reason I asked for parallel was I wanted to distribute the process so that the faulty part of the computer doesn't come into action. But thanks to your comment, I will try again and see if I did something wrong.
Right now I'm running some cases with Fluent, which are time consuming, and If I try meshing with Ansys and the computer crashes, I will lose my Fluent jobs. but I think I can try it on another computer.
Thanks again.

Sorry, i can't identify the problem from here... Good luck with it.

Also, you could try tech support...

or check the website for a phone number or get help thru the customer portal...

Dear All,
I think this is the right place to ask my question. I am trying to transfer ANSYS mesh file to FLUENT. I am wondering either I can do that. Please let me know.

Thanks.

Please be more specific... What extension is the file you currently have?

Do you have access to ICEM CFD?

Thank you for your reply. I have made a drawing of a simple square. Then I have meshed it. Now, I am trying to transfer this meshed flie to FLUENT. I have found that I need to make .msh file by ANSYS to work in FLUENT. However, I have failed to make .msh file by ANSYS. Please let me know how I can make it.
I do not have ICEM CFD. I have only ANSYS and FLUENT.

ANSYS Prep7? ANSYS Meshing in Workbench? What kind of file are you outputting? An ANSYS input deck (*.in) or an ANSYS CDB file?

In Workbench, you should be able to connect a Fluent system directly, or you could export a Fluent MSH file...
