Assuming you have a valid key, but your license manager is down...
CTRL-ALT-DELETE and go to the Task Manager. Find lmgrd and kill it if it is running. Then go to the ANSLIC_ADMIN utility (found under Start => ANSYS Inc License Manager) Open it up, check the status in the bottom left corner. Stop and start the license manager. Then retry Fluent. |

selecting this file is equivalent to existing lisence file ; this mean my lisence file is fine I not have lisence key but when i tried start Start => ANSYS Inc License Manager this message appear to me: Welcome to the Server ANSYS, Inc. Licensing Administration Utility Installation directory: C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc Feb 18, 2011 09:59: Attempting to start the ANSYS, Inc. License Manager... This may take a few seconds; please be patient... Start the ANSYS, Inc. License Manager status: The ANSYS, Inc. License Manager has successfully started. Please note that it may take up to 10 minutes for all components of the ANSYS, Inc. License Manager to be fully functional. If after that time the ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility's status window shows any particular component of the license manager as not running, please examine the ANSYS Licensing Interconnect debug log file and the ANSYS FLEXlm debug log file (by clicking 'View Status/Diagnostics Options' button) for more information or possible errors. Then I look throght the left corner Flexld still not running? |

Sorry, that usually works for me.
Next suggestion is to look in the top of your license file and find your customer number... Take that and go to the customer portal or email techsupp@ansys.com and get some real help. |

Sorry, I don't know why it is giving you a hard time...
For me, FlexLM (the licensing software) sometimes gets stuck on Windows. If it ever says the license daemon is down, I usually just kill lmgrd and start it again (less of a hassle than rebooting your whole machine, which effectivly does the same thing). Windows is like that. If a program gets stuck, you just stop it and restart it. Do you recall about 10 years back when they had to do that on the space shuttle orbiter? The systems all froze and they couldn't get things working properly. They ended up deciding to unplug the central computer which controlled all the systems including life support, navigation, communication, etc. Then they counted to 10 (while sitting in the dark 60 miles out into space) and then pugged it back in again... They were worried that the computer wouldn't come back up and they would be stuck, but it all worked out... |

if you look in the license.log file under \ansys inc\shared files\licensing then it will tell you exactly why its not running.
