impingement jet modeling in GAMBIT

hi all
does anybody know how can i find a tutorial for modeling a impingement jet in gambit something like this for flow around sphere https://confluence.cornell.edu/displ...phere+-+Step+1 a picture is attached that is what i am going to model(3d model) |

your geometry isn't complicated...
Create your outter domain, your pipe, the cube. Place them where you want. Finally substract the pipe and the cube from the outter domain. From here you can start meshing.

since the distance between jet and pedestal is relatively large.. i thouth if i assign a smaller volume for spaces near jet it saved time by reducing the number of cells..
instead i extend the outer volume near surface that is flow features is more important |

ok
*split jet_cylinder with cube adjacent to jet *substract near pedestral with pedestral (new volume called near pedestral) *split v1 with v2 *split v2 with v3 *split v1 with near pedestral (new volume called volume11) *split v2 with near pedestral (new volume called volume13) *split v3 with near pedestral (new volume called volume16) *delete volume16 *split volume cube adjacent to jet with v1 and v11 That's it PS: Since you will hexa, I would create cylinders instead of bricks (except the pedestral of course)

Hi dear friend
your previous guidance helped me very much... I have also some basic problems in gambit modeling . It's my pleasure if you can help me ... I am modelling different cases in 3d environment. to create a structured grid I designed so many volumes... some of them is small volumes and are located in other bigger volumes. and some of them intersect each other.. and some of there are adjacent volumes. My problem is in splitting and subtracting volumes... I don't know when i have to split volumes, when i have to subtract them. and other operations... I couldn't find any useful instruction on the web... for example I couldn't find why did you tell me that instruction for .dbs file for 3d impingement jet.. please help me... I have to prepare my projects , but i have also problems here thanks |
