Hi,

I'm trying to do a modal analysis in Ansys. Here is my problem:

I've made a mesh with Icem and imported it to Ansys Workbench with the FE Modeler. I've connected it to my Modal Analysis System.
When I'm trying to apply supports in Mechanical I can't select the different faces of the model because the programm smoothes it somehow. I can only select the whole body. So I can't apply the support where I want to.

Thx

Default sounds like a non-cfd problem

this is a cfd forum, so don't be surprised if support for fem is scarce.
good luck!

When you import the mesh via femodeler it puts a "skin" on the mesh.

When in FEModeler you have some control over how this "skin" is created.

Either you can change the cutting angle to pick off surfaces or you can create the surfaces yourself using the picking tool.

I believe the FEModeler help has a section on doing this.
