2D Mesh interface problem

Hi everyone,
I hope you are doing well! I created a 2D axisymmetric model with natural convection and applied the volumetric heat generation as a boundary condition to the walls of a battery surface (I did not model the surface of the battery, just its walls). This model did converge, however it did not generate any heat for some reason. Based on my understanding, Fluent should have no issues implementing volumetric heat generation in a 2D model. So then I decided to model the battery surface as well, and now I face a problem with creating mesh interfaces. I made sure to suppress one body while creating interfaces for the other body, and vice-versa. I even tried using 2 separate mesh elements for the fluid and solid domains (hexahedral and triangular) as well as using same type of mesh elements (both hexahedral). The axis of symmetry is along the x-direction (and flow direction as well). However despite these, Ansys throws an error: "The mesh file exporter does not support overlapping geometry in named selections. Please resolve the issue and try again. You can use the option “Show Geometry in Overlapping Named Selections” to help diagnose..." I need to create mesh interfaces due to them being different (fluid and solid) and I've also ensured that I'm not naming the same edges with 2 named selections. Please help ASAP! Thanks ! |

Hey everyone! Hope you are well..
I want to say that I was able to fix this by just going on the meshing tree-> Right click on Named selections -> Repair overlapping named selections Done! I honestly quite don't understand the logic behind the meshing software literally just creating a separate folder for one of the interfaces and making everything work, but hey, if it works, it works! It also showed up correctly in the mesh creation options in Fluent, so hopefully it is right. Thanks! |
