Default Inflation Layer Over Irregular Geometry

ccorvera is on a distinguished road
Hi there,

I am trying to insert an inflation layer on the attached geometry. The "plus-sign" shaped geometry in the center is a solid domain, and the fluid will pass from the negative x-direction to the positive x-direction, so I would like the boundaries of the inflation layer to be the top, bottom and side surfaces, as well as the surfaces of the plus-sign. I am unable to apply a multizone to the fluid body (getting a "multizone found free block" error).

I am aware that a possible solution to this problem is further decomposition of the fluid body into sweepable portions, but I am unsure exactly where to slice this geometry to accomplish this. Any suggestions on this? Or is there an easier way to get an inflation layer where I need it?

siw will become famous soon enough
If you do not want to split up the fluid domain into blocks (then using Edge Sizes with Bias for boundary layer clustering which is annoying). Maybe you can help MultiZone by projecting the edges of the 'plus-sign' to the top face of the fluid domain. This might help in sweeping upwards (see the Meshing User Guide > MultiZone method Control Figure 101 help/wb_msh/ds_multizone_method_option.html)
