Hey guys. I am completely new to CFD. I am literally struggling to understand the concept of blocking for structured meshing in ICEM. I have tried to watch videos online without much success. Almost all the videos assume that you have certain knowledge in CFD, and they take it from there. Another problem I faced was videos without any sound or (commentary). But I want to know why blocking is done and the principles behind it so that I can do blocking for any geometry. In a nutshell, I really want to understand the absolute fundamentals of blocking from scratch. If there is anyone who can help me out with this, it would be deeply appreciated. Basically, I need any resource where the concept of blocking is explained with clarity. Thank you in advance.

Do you mean that you're looking for good blocking strategies? I would suggest doing the ICEM tutorials, they cover most functions you will need when creating a structured mesh. You will also learn some blocking strategies.

This is quite the problem I also encounters. As for right now I haven't found the free tutorials as in fundamentals of blocking in ICEM or other software. Mostly trial and error in my earliest day of structured mesh adventures.

For me it is how you able to represent the geometry from a cubical perspective and the representations are gained with association. There will be a special blocking technique like o-grid for boundary layer and dealing with a circular geometry. Y block for sharp edges (I'm still a noob in this technique).

and many more, I suggest trying the basic geometries first and then making a sense why the blocking is done with such manners by looking at the mesh.
