Hi all,
I'm currently modelling the flow/strain rate on a mixing tank and have been facing some problems when it comes to contact regions on my mesh. The tank has a bottom rotor-stator mixer, for which I created a separate domain for the fluid within it so I can use the MRF model on Fluent. I made the geometry in a way that ensures a 0.25 mm gap between the rotor and the stator part of the mixer so that I could later specify a contact region in this area (I tried meshing with no gap at all first, but ended up with skewness >0.98 so I don't think that's the way I should go). The problem is that when I try to create both Automatic and Manual connections, I'm not able to choose the connection type; all options besides bonded and frictionless are disabled, and I believe in my case the correct option would be No Separation, since one part slides and the other doesn't. In the "Details - Contact Region Part" there's also no option to specify the type, which is really weird since that option was available in previous versions. Did the new 2020 version change its settings? Why are the other contact options disabled and what do I need to configure to enable them? I've attached a picture of my generated mesh with what I'm seeing on the screen + the menu I should be seeing (extracted from Ansys 2020 R1's own manual). Thank you! |
