singularity at boundary; uncovered face

Hi everyone,
as you can see in the pictures below I'm working on a hex-mesh. Unfortunately the cells are converging into a singularity at one point caused by a triangle block at the surface. Converting the mesh into a unstructured mesh to export for fluent is leading to the following error: Mesh has uncovered faces. ANSYS Fluent needs a complete boundary (shells in 3D) or it will give a variety of errors and not read in the mesh! The mesh consists of about 250k cells and apparently the error is caused by only 22 cells in that area.. Is there a way to fix those cells or the blocking around without redoing the blocking ? Maybe there's a feature/tool or some trick to work around that issue? What i've already tried is: - deleting the uncovered/converging elements - converting the mesh type to 'Quad with one Tri' - different kinds of splits and merges of blocks and vertices - getting rid of the triangle blocks (which caused problems with internal blocking) I'm fairly new to ICEM, i did the tutorials though and read all threads in the forum i could find related to my problem. Any help is greatly appreciated |
