fluidus is on a distinguished road
Hello everyone,

I am a newbie and I have checked other threads but haven’t found my answers, I hope this is the approach to ask my question.

A bit of a context: I have to study the flow around a SAE model inside a wind tunnel and I am currently working on the meshing. My plan is to use kind of a radial approach (perhaps there is a more technical term for this) to concentrate the elements around the body, for this I am dividing the wind tunnel in 6 sides bodies so I can later on use hex elements (the body is symmetric so I am working with half of it). My idea is to “build” the zones around a central prisma where I will place the SAE mesh and now I am working on these “surroundings”. I don’t know how to build this 3D geometry easily in Design Modeler so I am using CATIA for that, importing the geometry in Design Modeler and using later on Ansys Meshing.

Okay, now my problem. As I said I want to use hex elements and for that I use edge sizings and face meshing; however I cannot make it to work in some areas. I am forcing the number of elements in all edges (Hard edge sizings) and ensuring that they add up to the same global figure in equivalent sides (the longest side with 18 elements and the other sides adding a total figure of 18 elements as well); please note that the final mesh will have much more elements, this is so I can easily do the math and show it here. I have also specified Ends without any improvement.

In the screenshots you can see how there are no Quads in some of the faces (even if I force a Face Meshing)

Do you know why this happens and how I can fix it?

Thank you in advance!
Cheers
P.S: Happy new year
