I am building a large CFD model of a river (~7km long) and am having an issue with repairing the geometry in ANSYS Design Modeler. I've worked with other large models in the past and have not had any issues, but this geometry seems to be giving Design Modeler fits.
My workflow is as follows: 1. I import a bathymetry data set that has been cleaned into AutoCAD Civil 3D. 2. In Civil3D I create a solid from the corresponding TIN surface. 3. I import the new solid in to AutoCAD 3D and add in the water surface and subtract out the bathymetry file to generate a watertight solid, and I save the file as a .sat format. 4. I load the .sat file into Design Modeler with large model support on. When I attempt to repair the geometry I receive an error stating that the "Conversion of body to DesignModeler format failed". 5. I know I need the repair functions to refine the model to generate a viable mesh, and so I need to figure out why the model has issues. Has anyone experienced this issue or have suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks |

Hi,
Were you able to fix your problem? I am also receiving the same error but from an .stl file instead. I thought your solution might be able to help me. Thanks! |
