Hi everyone.
I'm studying the different mesh metric criteria and among those, there is the "Element Quality" criterion. In the way it is calculated it includes a factor which correspond to every different kind of element, so it's got a different value for each of these elements. Element Quality The following table lists the value of C for each type of element: Element Value of C Triangle 6.92820323 Quadrangle 4.0 Tetrahedron 124.70765802 Hexagon 41.56921938 Wedge 62.35382905 Pyramid 96 I want to know how good is this criterion to measure the quality of the elements in a mesh? Where do these "C" numbers come from? What do they mean? How are these calculated? I did some research on this but found no answers... These numbers and the formulae can be found in the ANSYS help: Meshing User's Guide - Global Mesh Controls - Statistics Group - Mesh Metric - Element Quality or help/wb_msh/msh_Element_Quality_Metric.html Thank you, so much in advance for any valuable help you may provide!!! |
