Hello,
I modeled the inner contour of a special nozzle for 3D-printing. I planned to calculate the fluid flow of a viscose liquid flowing through it.

To mesh it, I separated the nozzle into 3 bodies and used particular methods for better mesh properties.
To refine the mesh close to the wall, I used Inflation layers.
What did not work, was the MultiZone Method for a hexa-dominant mesh. The mesh generation fails, and I receive the message:
"The MultiZone meshing has completed, but no volume elements were created. This may be caused by unsupported circular sweeps."

I tried to upload the model - unfortunately it does not work: "Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing."

Has anyone an Idea what the MultiZone meshing-problem could be? Many many thanks for a hint!!

The hex-dominant method is not recommended for CFD, rather it is a method to use for FEA on bodies which are thick (i.e. not flat plates) but, in my opinion, a method of last resort.

Post some pictures of you mesh and settings.

Okay thank you. My aim was it to have a hexa-mesh swept above the whole body, thats why I chose Multizone.

The nozzle is axially symmetric, so I just modeled a quarter of it. The three bodies can be seen by the colors in the picture "nozzle".
I created Inflation layers from the wall above the whole body, but I just saw, the elements at the very tip might by to long and slim.
In the Multizone method I used the program controlled settings for the 3 bodies, but the mesh failed. I also tried to select the source/target manually and chose the interface between the bodies, but that did not work as well..

Thanks for a short glance at the settings!

If you want a C-grid you will need to split the geometry using DesignModeler, or similar. If you have the entire cylinder and wanted an O-grid you could use the Face Mapping. I put a simple test model in ANSYS R17.2 here http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=42754906569197050299.

Wow, thank you for the test models!
I dont really know, how to set C- or O-grids - is it related to Ansys ICEM?

I replaced the Multizone M. with edge sizing, now it worked well.
Still I have no idea what the problem was with the volume elements not being created by multizone.

Thank you very much!

ANSYS Meshing does not have the manual blocking features like ICEM, which is separate to the geometry generation. MultiZone tries to make automatic blocks but often you need to help it with some geometry features in DesignModeler, SpaceClaim etc. or you can just break the geometry up into blocks.
