Hi, i'm trying to mesh my 2D model in expplicit dynamics, but after generating mesh it becomes 3D! What i'm doing wrong?
thats the model before the mesh 2d.jpg and thats after 3d.jpg And solver gaves an error: Only Axisymmetric and Plane Strain 2D Behavior are supported for Explicit Dynamics (ANSYS) analyses. |

First thing to check. Is the 2D option selected, you must then create the geometry in the xy-plane?
Next, do you see 2D meshing options? |

What meshing options/features have you used?

In previous model i've used edge sizing, face meshing, body sizing. The mesh was ok. But solver gaves an error in logs "Unstructured Part has nodes on negative side of axial-symmetry ". Then i've decided to make another one with no mesh options, but the same geometry. And i got 3D instead of 2D mesh.
That's the project files, maybe it will help https://drive.google.com/open?id=1FS...aWFVvbkKhPI_jd |

I believe that what you are seeing is still 2D mesh.
For surfaces in 3D analysis, you specify thickness and the mesher shows you that thickness once the mesh is complete. for 2D analysis this is not needed but it`s just a leftover, and that is why you see a 3D mesh. 2 options to check this: 1.Within Ansys mesh, go to the geometry in the tree and specify the thickness of the part and see if the length of the mesh you see changes. 2.within Ansys mesh go to the display options and disable the show mesh thickness option (I don`t remember the exact name) As for your problem, its just that for 2D analysis, Ansys needs everything to be set correctly. It has to be in the x-y plane for example. you need to set whether it is a plane strain, stress or axisymmetric. and maybe more setting that I dont remember. Look for some tutorial or video about setting 2D problems in Ansys, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La82KYK7VSg |
