Dear all!
I am currently working on the simulation of the external aerodynamics of a car with a little bit of underhood regions and I am using the CutCell method in Fluent Meshing mode (18.1). My problem is that the mesh check fails due to some left handed faces even without morphed prism layers. When I add prism layer more left handed faces occur. For testing purpose I even neglected the underhood part to simplify the geometry. I also visualized the left handed faces and removed the areas in the model. After remeshing left handed faces appear somewhere else in the mesh. The CAD input files are .stl. I wrap them to get a surface mesh. I check and modify the surface mesh to get 0 free, multi and duplicate faces and a maximum skewness of <0.7. I really worked through all information and tutorials I could get about CutCell meshing. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any information about left handed faces with CutCell in the Ansys Manual, the internet and this forum. Commands like mesh/repair-face-handedness in Fluent Meshing mode and repair in Fluent Solution mode don’t seem to work. Is there anybody having the same problems and solved them? Is there maybe a vital check I didn’t do with the surface mesh? Are there commands to prevent the formation of left handed faces prior to meshing or post meshing? Generally I want (have) to stick with the possibilities of Ansys 18.1. Furthermore I also want to stick with the CutCell method due to turnaround time and mesh size. Thanks in advance! BR Paul |

Sorry I can't help but I wanted to comment so I can follow this thread in case someone has a solution...I'm also having an issue with checking the cutcell mesh in fluent (although mine says that there is an element with only faces)
