Hi all,

I used a Hexa mesh for a building in a domain that has a channel inside it. I did not create Hexa for the channel because of its complicated geometry. Now I want to use unstructured mesh for the channel part using the bottom-up method. For creating the surface mesh, I want the interface between the channel and the domain being respected (conformal mesh). and I do not want to create a mesh and then merge the interface. I want my interface structured mesh to be there. How can I do that? When I choose respect line element in the global mesh setup for Quad dominant, for example, and mesh the surface, the vertices in the shared edge of interface and the surface of the channel does not match.
What should I do?

delete the surface elements only on interface and select the surface manually using the surface settings. click patch dependent and all quad or auto block and all quad and tick remesh selected surfaces

I do not want to delete my surface mesh on the interface. Actually, I want to keep that and want the surface mesh on the channel walls to accommodate that and match its vertices along shared edge with that of interface

Only a guess, but you have to make sure these line elements are actually available. Line elements are not the edges of your hex mesh. They are created separately when converting blocking to unstructered mesh. Line elements are created for all blocking edges that are associated with a curve. You can activate line elements in display tree under mesh and check them.

Also do not use too large values for "ignore size" because it might seriously mess up your mesh. I made a quick 2D test with where green is hex mesh and red is patch dependent mesh. In this simple case it is working a supposed to. Another thing you can check is the influence of element sizes and growth of element size on the interface.
