Hi All
I am a PhD student and am learning ICEM for my CFD needs. I have been getting a lot of help and advice from you. My question to you is: What are the most pertinent quality metrics which one should watch out for in ICEM Meshes, for say FLUENT solver? My understanding is Determinant, Angle, Skewness, Aspect Ratio. Are there any more metrics? Among these, which are more important metrics and should be tackled first? Also, what is your common plan of attack for tackling these metrics? Let us share our experiences and have a general discussion regarding quality metrics in ICEM Hexa. Thank you for your time. |

Orthogonality and skewness is more important. Skewness 0 indicates perfect quality and orthogonal 1 perfect quality

My first quality check for hybrid meshes is that the element Quality is below 0.3; except that is for prism elements. Search of the presentations by PSYMN which covers this in detail.
But if you are making Hexa meshes then check the determinant metric. See this ANSYS training video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h1aCuedbGU. |
