Hi,

I'm constructing mesh in ANSYS 15.0, I have to mesh the two parts (see attachments), I want to simulate pitching and plunging motion for that i want Fluid region surrounding the plate to move with the plate. When I mesh the meshes at interface between two parts are not matching i.e., the nodes aren't connecting. I have tried to merge the two parts by creating a new part but having single part i can't move the other part( motion of fluid region)
If i go with the old not connected mesh I'm getting divergence error. Is there any way I can fix this Issue?
Please help me with this
Thank you

There are two ways to impose matching
  1. Match control: In the mesh settings you can introduce match control and select both the faces where you want matching mesh.
  2. Shared topology: In the CAD program you can introduce shared topology for both the bodies. With shared topology ansys mesh will mesh both the bodies as if they were one.

I use spaceclaim and it is straight forward in spaceclaim. But I am not sure about design modeler.

Try and let us know how it goes.

Thank you @ vasava
Shared Topology works
But I got wrong results. I wanted flow to happen over flapping plate but I can see contours over interfaces also (see attachment)new.jpg

Without seeing your case setup its difficult to pass comment about why this is happening. But here is what I think:
1. You could be too early in your simulation time to make observations. I mean for such a system I would wait for at least 10-15 rotations before I see any periodic behavior.
2. The interface is not set correctly.
3. The rotation (axis, center etc) is not set correctly.

Thank you Sir for your suggestions.
My case file isn't uploading here.. can you give me your email id so that I can mail you

Problems are
1. I can see contours over interface zone
2. dynamic mesh failed negative cell volume detected error

I think my geometry and meshing might be wrong
Can you guide me with Geometry and mesh generation
Please help me with this sir, I have no one to guide me.
Thank you

I also tried Shared Topologu and it works. However, with Shared Topology I have some problems in setting up the interfaces with Ansys CFX because the Named Selection set in Design Modeler are not preserved in Ansys CFX. How can I solve this problem?

For CFX you have to define boundary conditions names yourself. No software preserves the name selection for CFX.

Yes, BUT with different parts the Named Selections are preserved in CFX-Pre ...

I saw this problem in different threads, interfaces are not recognized by CFX and Fluent when they are in the same part.

I think it's better to keep the parts separated and then using the MATCH mesh options. Anyone know how to use it properly?

This could be USEFUL for MANY PEOPLE, I think ... ...

I never have problems with interfaces in CFX.

Do you have 2 different volumes in CFX-Pre? Did you look for the surfaces in between when clicking on the button with the three dots? "..." If the surfaces are not in that list, then your setup is wrong. Either in CAD or in the meshing.

Probably your way of thinking is wrong, leading to an inappropriate setup. I would suggest to do more tutorials where interfaces are required.

Hi Jan, until now I set up my interfaces manually having given them a name (Named Selection). Probably this is not necessary, I just feel more confident doing like this ...
