Default Premesh refinement problem - Penetrating elements

Hello everyone!

I am trying to mesh a simple domain structured domain that has a volume of local refinement. I am trying to do this with the premesh refinement tool and everything looks fine until I convert the mesh to unstructured and run a mesh check.

First I get a message of uncovered faces, From what I have understood from other posts in the forum this has to do with the association of the faces to surfaces (is this correct?). ICEM seems to be able to fix this problem however.

The second problem that arises is penetrating elements. Now from what I have understood this is elements from one surface that penetrates another surface. In the attached picture the problem elements are shown. I don't really get what's causing this this problem though.

Does anyone have experience with this and have any tip on how to solve this problem? I have tried to associate edges to curves and surfaces and faces to surfaces but this problem seems to continue to exist.

If anyone has an idea I would be very thankful!

Best regards

Hello again!

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated! I tried to make it conformal again with the mesh merging alternative but this does not work neither. I think that the main problem is the surface where the refined and the non refined mesh sort of meets.

Surely someone must have an idea at least?

Best regards!
