Hi,
In my single fluid domain, I have a diffuser vane with a vortex generator on the bottom surface (hub). I am using tetrahedral unstructured meshing with inflation layers around the diffuser vane, shroud and hub so that I can capture separation. The mesh for the vortex generator (two triangles) is refined using a sphere of influence but I am getting really bad stair stepping as you can see in the attachment. (ANSYS doesn't flag this) inflation settings: gap factor 0.5 maximum height over base: 0.1 growth rate type: geometric Maximum angle 180 degrees fillet ratio: 0.5 Smoothing iterations: 5 Even with layer compression the problem is still there with little to no improvement (see last attachment). By the way, the time frame I have does not allow me to use ICEM meshing so please if an expert mesher on this forum has any detailed advice I really appreciate it. From pictures it seems that you are using 'Proximity' size function. Have you tried using different 'size functions'? If not, try with 'Fixed' or 'Off' options.
Also, try with 'First layer thickness' option and see how it goes. |
