Hello eagesg,

if I remembered correctly, I just downloaded Ansys student license again, unpacked it at the desktop.
As I tried to copy the license to c:\program files\ansys inc\ Windows asked me if I would like to copy the data as administrator (I use Mac most of the time, so I don't really know how this is triggered? Maybe you can right click on the folder and use "copy as admin" or something like that?). After this I just installed Ansys as usual and everything worked just fine.
It is important that the license is under c:\program files\ansys inc\ - don't leave it in downloads or on the desktop.

Have you tried to re-download the license file? Maybe there is an issue with the file itself.

Thanks, I already found the cause of the problem. It was a minidump file that had a time stamp of year 2024. I just deleted it and it worked

I'm using Ansys Workbench 17, student version, on Win 8.1 64 bit. I can change and set up the engineering data, but the design modeller don't let me draw anything, I can start drawing a line, but can put "down" the end of it. And I can't import geometry from other programs (Autocad 2016), because : "The selected file is of an unsupported or unconfigurated geometry type".

I have a little sign in the lower left corner. It's a check in workbench, but when I open up design modeller to make the geometry modell, I see a little red sign, like the "no entry", I attached a picture of it.

Thank you in advance,
Garab
It's a licence problem, however if you're using it on you own computer there are ways to overcome this problem, if you know what I mean
