Hello everybody,

For the past three years this board has always been a great help to any of my problems. Unfortunately I have not found anything concerning my problem and I really hope you guys can help me.

I have a problem concerning the meshing in ICEM 16.1 between two bottle neck shaped splines. The file "overview" shows this specific area without any other elements displayed. In comparison to the output zone the input zone is relatively narrow, so the mesh has to narrow on its way. Both can be seen in the pictures I attached.

I meshed this area with an all quad dominant mesh. The curve's mesh settings on the input and output control the width between each horizontal bar. The node alignment on the bottle neck splines control the alignment of the vertical bars.

The file "problem zone" shows my problem. The mesh's bar alignment is angeled to a certain degree and not, as it was in my older simulations and meshs, orthogonal to the upper spline. The file "solution" shows this wanted mesh orientation from a different project (with similar settings).

When I load this mesh into Fluent 16.1 and calculate the results I get a bizarre solution which leads me into thinking the mesh's orientation might be the problem.

My question:

Is there any way to modify the node alignment on splines, so that this mesh

1) narrows on its path from input to output
2) has orthogonal bars (in orientation to the upper spline)

Thank you very much in advance. I really hope I made a rookie mistake.

Regards,

Thomas
