Dear all,

I am using ICEM CFD 16.2 for Hexa-Meshing of a blood vessel geometry (similar a to a tube network) with several bifurcations branching of the main vessel. I am creating an O-Grid on the surface for later usage with OpenFOAM.
In order to keep the mesh size at the inlet in a reasonable dimension I need to create interfaces between the different bifurcating branches (for creation of arbitrary mesh interfaces (AMI) in OpenFOAM).
For this (and this method worked fine in ICEM v13) I create a section curve on the vessel (as perpendicular to the vessel direction as possible) with
Create/Modify Curve -> Create Section Curve -> "Plane Setup: Normal to: Three Points"
In the following I assign the created curve to a new part named "interface1" and with
Create/Modify Surface -> Simple Surface -> Simple Surface Method: Method: From Curves
I create the surface inside the circle.

For the AMI in OpenFOAM I need another suface in exactly the same place! Therefore I repeat these steps. If another section curve is created, the chosen points of the last plane are still logged in in the form. So another curve at exactly the same place is created if the "Apply" button is pushed.
Up to this point this works well. I assign the "new" identical curve to a new part "Interface2" and want to proceed with the creation of a surface within this circle.
However, at this point either the created circle just vanishes leaving an empty part "Interface2", or simply nothing happens, but no surface is created! In the log it still says surface(s) srf.11 is created, however nothing is visible. Sometimes very seldom this procedure still seems to work though. Try it again and it fails!

I tried assigning the new surface to a new Part GEOM, directly the part I want it assigned to in the end (Interface2) or assigning it to something else...

I am very worried what is going on here and I don't understand at all. To me it seems like a bug in the new version 16.2. Does anyone else have the same problem with this version and this task? Maybe you could just give it a try?
Or even better if you know what I am doing wrong please let me know! I am stuck here!

I would be very glad for any responses! Thanks a lot in advance for any advice! All help is much appreciated!

Just if anyone is interested. It works this way:

The surface within the curve has to be created within the automatically generated part "geom" before the new part is created. Then the surface an curve can be added to this new part. The second identical surface and curve are then created in the same way and added to the second part. in exactly this order.

Thanks again if anyone actually looked intos this =)
