How to increase meshing speed?

Hi,
I am currently using Ansys meshing to generate the grid for my model. Unfortunately it is working really slow... I use Ansys 15.0, my computer is 16GB RAM and i7, 4 cores, However Ansys permanently uses only around 7GB memory and 20% of the CPU... Geometry is quite complicated and usual number of cells is around 6-7 mln. However the process of meshing is taking around 3-4 hours! I also got Ansys 16 on the virtual machine with 64GB of RAM, but meshing is exactly as slow as on my computer. Could you help me somehow? How I can increase meshing speed? Why the software doesn't use full capacity of the computer? Thanks |

HI Sylwia,
Meshing uses 1 core to mesh so it will be same speed in any computer. If you have multiple license available then depending upon size of mesh , meshing utilizes other license to make it faster. The only way to make it faster is by having more than 1 license. Cheers KAPI |

Maybe this section of the Meshing User Guide will help: Meshing User's Guide / Global Mesh Controls / Advanced Group / Number of CPUs for Parallel Part Meshing.

I already tried already to change the number of CPU in Ansys Options, but it didn't change the meshing speed. So I guess I have only one licence...
Thank you! |
