Meshing a spherical cavity over a cylindrical duct

Hi all,
I'm trying to mesh a spherical cavity which protrudes from a cylindrical duct as shown in the attached picture. The default face meshing scheme (quad pave) fails to mesh the cylindrical portion of the geometry properly and thus volume meshing fails as well. The other face meshing types cannot handle this as well. As an example of the cavity flow problem I hoped to find a lot of cases out there, but in most cases, the details of the meshing have not been put up. What would be the appropriate scheme to mesh this geometry? |

you need to divide your geometry.
check this tutorial: https://www.sharcnet.ca/Software/Gam...guide/tg03.htm
