Can't get a surface body with positive thickness from a solid

Hello to everyone on this forum!
I'm pretty newbe with ANSYS Design Modeler and have a problem with Thin/Surface for solids. I'm trying to refine bone geometry model from what I get from Grab CAD website as an igs-file. Specifically, I imported an external geometry from igs-file as a solid. I need to get a bone model with bone marrow shaft hole. To do this I apply Thin/Surface function to the imported solid with positive Inward Thickness parameter. If it is pretty small, say, 0.05cm it goes flawlessly getting some bone surface body with positive thickness. But setting bigger thickness I got the function error titled Wall operation failed" Context: Geometry Engine, while generating feature Thin Error: Operation failed for all bodies. The thickness value I set is not so large to make internal surface sides to meet each other. What's the problem and how can I tackle with this to get a shell-like bone ? Let me also mention there is no import problems with ANSYS DM and I get the same from imported SolidWorks file. Last edited by kobylkinks; March 26, 2015 at 03:01. |
