Hallo, every
I'm new with CFD, working on a cyclone Simulation. Right now I am generating a mesh with ICEM, actually floowing a tutorial but with some Adaptions because of differences of the geometry.
But right now my mesh Quality below 0.5 are in These regions: in Picture (attachment) with green Color (mainly the inflow Region, high skewness and the contact Region of cylinders). could anyone help me with the modification? what could i do to improve the Quality?

Thank you so much

bluebase will become famous soon enough
Hello Zhiyi,

your cylone inlet region contains a degenerated block. That's the reason for low mesh quality in that part. This kind of the geometry is similar to another popular question, how to mesh a volute in a centrifugal pump.
Without explaining much, check page 96 in the following document!
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByIL...BQT3pQMjQ/edit
This can give you a few ideas how to improve the blocking.

The inner regions with bad mesh quality are difficult to see. May add some more pictures of those details.

with regards,
Sebastian

Hello,

It seems that there are some skewed mesh around the sharp edges.

I think it's better to use hybrid mesh in this situation.
(tet mesh for sharp edge region and hex for another region)

regards,
JM

Thank you, I'll try to use some hybrid-mesh.

Thank you for your advices. Nice material.
I'll take a picture of the inner region with a clear view~
