fuerst818 is on a distinguished road
Hello and thanks in advance for any help.

I have been working for a long time on properly meshing and analyzing a 2d airfoil with an upper surface flap. I am relatively new to CFD and am using ANSYS ICEM to generate my mesh and ANSYS Fluent to analyze.

I worked tutorials and followed a 3-part series on meshing a 2d airfoil on youtube. I was able to mesh the clean 2d airfoil and match the CFD results with experimental data I have relatively well.

However, meshing the airfoil with a flap has proven quite tough. I cant seem to block it properly in order to capture the BL of the airfoil along with the flap.

First Attempt

Second Attempt

I have also tried to use an unstructured grid but understand the a structured is often used more to capture the BL.

Thanks,

Eric
