Hi,
Can any one please advise on how to create a structured mesh for a cylinder in Ansys? The problem I am facing is at the top and bottom faces. I am trying to simulate the flow past a finite 3D cylinder with a volume of water above it. I have meshed this volume as a structured mesh corresponding to the fluid domain around the cylinder. The domain around the cylinder is modelled as a block with a hole in it. This necessitates the addition of a cylinder above the hole to capture the mesh effectively. Is this the right approach to meshing these kind of problems? I have attached a few pics of the same. thanks, Anup bottom domain.jpg top domain.jpg |

If you want a pure hex mesh, you can further divide the cylindrical volume above the cylinder to get volume elements with hexahedral shape.

Hi,
What method did you use for this? |
