Hi! I've been following this tutorial:

https://confluence.cornell.edu/displ...Airfoil+-+Mesh

for creating my mesh around this specific aerofoil, however due to it's high camber and asymmetry instead of using the Mapped Face meshing technique I applied the Multizone Meshing one where the following are my constraints:

Mapped mesh type: Hexa
Free mesh type: Not Allowed

However the following image shows the discrepancies from just below the bottom edge of the aerofoil to the centre line x-axis. How can I resolve this and any another of the errors that have appeared (such as overlapping geometry)?

Dropbox of files: https://db.tt/VIRzWkbe

Any help is truly appreciated!

Kind regards,

Ele

Here is a thread about the same topic.
http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/flu...ease-help.html

This might have been hard to find because of the "vague" title.

Hi, for the geometry setup I used this particular tutorial: http://www.mne.psu.edu/cimbala/Learn...ial_Airfoil.pd

Which I believe follows the 'Form new part' as you suggested in that thread?

When you suggested to 'merge' the two sections how would I go about that?

Thank you for your reply!!

I had a boolean operation in mind.

I'm really new to this so please could you explain in a little more detail?

The only boolean command I used during Design Modeler was to remove the airfoil from the fluid volume.

Thanks once again.

Then you already know how to do it.
Only this time, you have to unite the face that is causing the distorted mesh with the adjacent face. There is even a picture in the linked thread.

Please note that in the cited thread a completely different approach was chosen in the end.

I have united them using a boolean however when I ten try to open it for meshing I am only left with the bottom left quadrant and the aerofoil! (The other 3 quadrants have disappeared even though they still appear in design modeler)

Post a screenshot of the model tree in Design Modeler before you proceed to the meshing application.

My bad.
I forgot to mention that we need screenshots where we actually see the relevant parts of the model tree.
Expand the geometry section and post at least 2 screens where you clicked on each of the 2 "parts" so we can see its details in the details view.

Ah sorry about that, is this good enough? I deleted the boolean to show you the two specific parts.

I dont feel like we are going to solve the problem this way. For example, I have no idea where the line body is coming from.
I recommend you start over again and use the approach outlined in the linked thread ("bottum up", separate sketch for each of the four planes).
