Setting up Periodic BCs - Need Help !

Hello all,
I had recently posted regarding problems with my geometry, but now I have managed to get the model into the Workbench Mesher. I am now held up with the problem of creating periodic BCs in the mesher itself. I have referred to a few links/threads but none so far have given a well-defined way of creating periodic surfaces, atleast the ones that I referred. I am modeling the passage of fluid between two compressor blades and I need to define two periodic walls (in the circumferential direction) at the inlet region (axial entry). I tried creating the "symmetry" folder in mesher, and also the "match control" feature, but the mesh fails to get updated. I am also getting the error "cannot determine a matching face/edge" for one of the two faces. Could you kindly tell me how a periodic BC is created? I'd be really grateful if you could outline the process a bit in detail, as I'm very much confused right now after reading about rotation axis, periodicity axis, orientation etc. factors that could affect the successful setting up of a periodic BC? Pls take a look at the attached picture. The compressor has it's axis of rotation about the z-axis (in fluent), whereas it was the y-axis in CREO 1.0 (where I created the geometry). Thanks a lot ! |
