Hi experts,

I am currently working on simulating fluid flow across a centrifugal compressor. My question is regarding the interface that separates the 2 different domains shown in attachment photo.

1) For the first domain, it is for simulating flow through a moving impeller. I have the surface marked in 'Orange' and add to part as 'Impeller'. I also created material body inside marked in green as 'Impeller_body'.

2) For the second domain, it is for simulating flow through a stationary diffuser. I have the surface marked in 'blue' and add to part as 'Diffuser'. I also created material body inside marked in yellow as 'Diffuser_body'.

3. As for the surface that separates the 'Impeller' and 'Diffuser' Body, I marked it in 'black' and and add to part as 'Interface'.

I then generate an unstructured mesh. Is this the correct way of handling 2 different domains and the single interface that separates them?

Next, I then import the mesh into Fluent and I received errors during mesh check as shown in attachment photo 2.

1) I would like to ask why is there 3 interfaces to select in the selection box. Shouldn't there be only 2 since I created only 2 different material points in ICEM? Or is it due to the added interface surface as 'Interface' in ICEM? Please advise me on this

Also, I tried to link the 2 'interface 002' and 'interface 003' together. This is the problem I have:

2) Error message indicates that I have unassigned interface zone detected, and advise I add periodicity. Did I miss any step out previously?

Im doing this as a final year project in university. Any advise with elaboration will be of great help. Thank you!

regards,
ant
