hi all,

This is my first post at this forum, i have used your advice that you posted in many threads and it was very useful. Thank you for that.

I am currently busy with a university project concerning the flight dynamics of a UAV. In order to obtain values such as CL we are doing simulations in Fluent.

The model (step file) of the UAv's wing is attached to this post. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6zrkm6w6f5...ing%20---.STEP

At this moment we are using a C-grid domain and got some initial results from fluent however these results seem a bit unrealistic. I have tried many things in order to get more accurate results but sometimes the simulation does not even converge.

We think the problem that we get has to do with a unaccurate mesh. If we use the standard setting for the mesher, the program does not give error messages, however if we change settings such as min size of the element and assembly meshing we sometimes get messages about the orthogonal quality (less than 0.05) and element skewness. The problems seem to concentrate around the trailing edge of the wing. Most low quality elements are around the TE.

The file attached is an example of a coarse mesh that fluent generated.

Do you guys maybe have tips to make a proper mesh for this model?
We would like to simulate for different angles of attack.

If you required other information, please let me know.

Thanks you for your help, very much appreciated!

hi
I tried to generate mesh around wing with winglet in ICEM but after generating mesh the quality of mesh is very low and I give some error in fluent.
3 pictures are attached.
Hope any of you can give me an advice for a better blocking strategy or any other suggestion is welcomed.
