I am trying to convert the STL file of a wing with split winglets into a solid body to mesh in ICEM or Gambit. I can't seem to get it to work properly.
I've tried Design Modeler, Solidworks, Geomagic studio, and Meshlab. I was able to get some solid using the CSG in meshlab but it was very crude. The solidbody option in SWD won't work as there are too many faces. Does anyone know how to convert this stl surface to a solid body? or how I can create the mesh to carry out CFD analysis of external flow? Step by Step instruction for either would be great. Here is the link to the stl file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ppseb24lmp...ration.stl.zip Thanks, |

Why do you need a solid?

I need it to be a solid if I want to mesh it in ansys.
Also if you can provide the steps to mesh where I won't need a solid, then that'd be great. |

Don't know about ansys and I don't know if it can take a surface as in input but most softwares do… You input your stl and then you create your domain around it.
