Hi everybody,

I'm working in a 3d conformal tet-mesh and I'd like to know how to control the rate at which tetraedrals are growing in size away from a size determined zone.

Is there a parameter for that?

I remember it was pretty easy to set this gorwing rate in the ansys meshing tool.

Thanks a lot!

You can work with a density region to determine a local max size in aspecific regioin. Density Box has the option "ratio" which sets the grow rate of elements away from the density region. A value near one gives you a very smooth transition. The option "width" sets the number layers that grow with the determined ratio away from the density box. For very different element sizes you might also put a density region in a density region to achieve a better transition. Works both for octree and delaunay.

Okay, I'll give it a try. This density region has to be a volume enclosed by surfaces? Thanks Kad!

I don't think it has to be a volume enclosed by surfaces. Just set it up anywhere you want. I recently used density region with a fixed grow ration near 1 and a width of 15 or 20 myself. Pics are attached.

Remember that octree uses element sizes as a power of two of the smallest mesh size, so your requirements probably won't be met. If you have octree volume you should better replace it with delaunay.
