Hey,
I'm new to ANSYS and am running into problems modelling. Ultimately, I want to use fluent to consider 2D convection in a box with fixed temperature on the edges. I want a thermal source in the middle, however, I don't want the source to be coming from a solid object - the fluid needs to be able to flow through the thermal source. This is modelling buoyancy driven flow with laser heating - so you can see that I have a thermal source without a change in medium. I'm not sure how to prepare my mesh/geometry so that I can instruct Fluent to provide a source in the bulk. Any help would be much obliged! |

Hi,
What you can do is to put the area that you want it to be heated in different fluid zone (different body). Therefore you need an internal surface before that and another one after it to be able to define a close volume. Then in Fluent, for each specific zone, you can define Mass, momentum, or energy source. Thank you. Pouria |
