Hi everyone,
After reading several posts on this forum (and others) relating the different techniques of geometry import, I'm asking you if it is possible to do two things in Workbench : 1 - To import a design modeler file in another design modeler project: I'm an intern in a consulting company who works in aeronautics, and my goal is to mesh parts of a jet engine, and export it to my collegue who will use it and import to his project (we've got the same geometry). Practicly, to mesh those parts i need to do several modifications in DesignModeler before the geometry can be ready for meshing. My question is : can i export all the modifications ( such as slices, face deletes, booleans etc ) and give it to him so he can directly use them in his project with no waste of time. 2 - To import the mesh from my project to his In the same line, once the geometry meshed and ready to be calculated, I'd need to export it and import it in his own project. Is it possible then to export a mechanical file? I have been looking for this option for a while now but i've found nothing interesting. I hope that you have some useful answers, and wish you a nice day. Sincerely, Mehdi. |

your second question is not clear, every software has an option for saving a session or the project you are working on, if he has the same software there should be no problem. Are you using ansys meshing ???? |

Thank you Ali for your quick reply.
First for .agdb file, I need to export only the modifications I've added to the agdb file (because while I was working, he added some modifications too and it would be interesting to import my geometry operations only to his work). The goal for this task is to only export what I've changed (like the DMscript) but with the operations too. For the meshing work, the question remains the same, is it possible to export my meshing methods inserted in Mechanical ? so that my colleague can read it and run the analysis to be solved. The problematic in here is that we must add what I did to his work without altering what he already operated While we were working at the same time on different tasks. I hope that my point was clear, if not please inform me I will answer asap. Again thank you for your reply. Sincerely, Mehdi |

What about Copy/Paste to clipboard? You can then copy methods/sizings/etc between different mechanical windows. It's a beta feature in workbench. You need to turn it on in workbench Tools > Options > Appearance:

Hi Josef,
Your idea is very effective and helped me to add the changes and I would like to thank you. The only thing remaining is to solve the problem for DM operations. You see, I was thinking that maybe by writing a script and then run it in the other DM session I would recover all the operations (mostly slices and booleans that cleans the geometry) which is not the case now - It only reproduces the sketches on the active plane which is logical - and I wonder if this possibility can me more investigated to add DM operations that I've listed before? Also, I've tried importing my .agdb file in the other project which added a whole new geometry (and it's a bit confusing). Do you think there is a good option like the copy to clipboard for DM ? Again thank you for you reply. Sincerely, Mehdi |

Glad it helped.
Sadly I don't have any suggestions for your DM issue |
