Hi Everyone,

It's my first post, but i've been reading you and learning from you long time. So, first of all, thank you to cfd-online community for all of your expertise. Now that I'm better with CFD, I'll try also to help with my small knowledge.

I have a problem with periodic faces in multizone mesh. I set the periodicity at mesh setup, then a set the periodic vertices. But, after make the unstructured mesh when I check mesh for periodicity problems, ICEM give me thousands of errors like this:

"shell XXXX has node YYY which has no twin"

Checking the mesh, and drawing the periodic lines, I can see that ICEM don't make periodic in all mesh, just in 3 faces of 5.

Changing edges nodes counting, the part of the mesh that periodic brokes changes. In the image attached, you can see the mesh with the periodic lines. But the periodic is only good at the middle of the mesh and in the upper and the bottom. If I change some edge parameters, sometimes I fix the upper part of the mesh, but the middle brokes. And so on... But I can't get a good mesh.

I've attached pictures of the geometry, the periodic vertices and the mesh with periodic lines.

Anyone can help me? I don't have any idea of how to fix that. I remaked the geometry with CATIA and with Solidworks. I tried differents parameters.. But I can't find the solution.

Thanks in advance.

Is it 3D case? extruded to 0.25 chord? Why you dont just use the hybrid mesh?

Yes, is a 3D extruded geometry. But with 1mm gap between one face and the blades. I always thought that hexa is always better for turbomachinery.

That mesh is hexa swept mesh, with an acceptable quality. My problem is only with periodic faces.
I've made this mesh with Gambit last year succesfully. But now I want to update to ICEM CFD.

Also, if you have any suggestion of a better way to do it... I will be grateful because I don't know how to proceed now.
