Meshing 3d Blade

So I'm trying to create a mesh around a 3d Blade (NACA 0012) that has the top part covered. Although I've managed to get the mesh on the surface on which the blade lies with rather good quality, I do have big problems getting a good quality mesh on the aforementioned cover.
You can see the whole geometry in Fig 1 and the cover in Fig 2. In Fig 3 and 4 you can see the blocking and finally in Fig 5 and 6 you can see the mesh quality results in Determinant2x2x2 and Min Angle (on the one side of the top of the trailing edge) respectively. I've also attached the project if anyone wants to look around. Any tips? I primarily want to find a way so that I avoid those low quality elements on the top of the blade. |

Here's Fig 6 and the project files.

Thanks for the fast reply Far. Just one question: Considering the tip on my wing is not flat, how much should I expect things to change? Or do I just follow the same procedure and I'm set?
And if I may ask, what's the command to make an edge round like you have done in some of your methods? Last edited by Adramelch; March 27, 2013 at 07:29. |

If tip is not round then you may you need to put o-grid around tip instead of extending o-grid into farfield.
To make edge round, go to edit edge and use either spline, automatic linear etc . There is another option which will make the edge to follow the shape of another edge. . |

I have made this:
which is pretty much how I want the mesh to be, however the quality isn't all that good. Anyone more experienced in this can take a look and tell me what I could do to improve the quality? |

I know it's mostly solver related but do you think with a minimum quality of 0.22 for Determinant2x2x2 and 10.2 for minimum angle I'll be fine?

The quality is good enough. But you may improve it by employing appropriate topology. Last edited by Far; March 29, 2013 at 09:53. |

I got the quality up to a minimum angle of 12.8 and a minimum Determinant2x2x2 of 0.316 having converted the o-grid to a c-type (as it's generally more appropriate for sharp trailing edges), but I'm not entirely sure what else I could improve. Not exactly sure what changes I could do to topology that would help me.
