[DesignModeler] DesignModeler Crashing

I'm attempting the: Setting Up and Solving a Cold Flow IC Engine Problem - Part 1 of 2 v14.5 tutorial and when doing the steps where DesignModeler is used it will crash constantly. I cannot even exit DesignModeler without it crashing. Here is a list of things that make it crash:

1. attempting to exit design modeler without doing anything other than opening and then closing
2. add new IC Valves Data Group (pg. 70 in pdf)
3. attempting to create a plane (this particular step isn't in this tutorial but I've tried it and it still freezes)
4. attempting to edit the input manager; I tried this after knowing that the next step would make it crash, I would save the file and then attempt to edit input manager, it would freeze.

We use Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

I have our schools IT department working on a solution but I figured I would ask this forum.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is? I have submitted a ticket with Ansys but haven't heard back from them yet. I've tried several other tutorials and anytime I use designmodeler it will crash.
