Hi,

I'm trying to mesh a wind turbine blade twisted. But first, I'm reducing the problem. Now I'm trying to mesh a wing taper ratio in this domain. However, the wing doesn´t intersect with the side surfaces of the domain. What would be the correct strategy of blocking?

Thank Far,

But is not the same case. This wing has a taper ratio so.. I think is not exactly the same blocking strategy. In addition, in my case all wing is inside flow domain and there aren´t intersection with wall.

If you look carefully at the thread, you will find that one side is connected to surface (symmetry) while the other is not. In your case you have to apply open-side approach on both siedes. Moreoever the blocking method for tapered or simple wing is exactly the same.

So you can still follow that thread with full confidence. Do come back and ask the some specific questions if you get the problem.

Thank Far. You were right. I did this example. A few days ago I started to try and make the strategy of the actual geometry of the turbine blade and the flow domain. I'm getting things but maybe not the best quality possible. Now I'll open a thread to discuss some doubts about the strategy block in an area with torsion, taper ratio ...
Thanks again.

i´ve not read your answer before open a new thread. In any case, I paste the same message here.

I write this post to see if any of you could advise me on the blocking strategy is appropriate. I'm trying to mesh this domain (image1,2)

image 1.JPG image 2.JPG

Before I do this, I want to split it the whole domain into 3 sections and then mesh them separately. Now I show the first of it (image 3).

To be clear what I do in this case attached this video.

I am delighted to tell me what I'm doing wrong or if the strategy is not adequate. I make an o-grid but then if I want to have a sharp trailing edge I have to collapse blocks and I think that worsens the cylinder .. I do not know what would be the optimal strategy.

Thank you in advance

Hi guys,

I´ve been reading about my project in other threads, for example:

http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...-blocking.html

At the same time, when I read this thread I saw the Ralen approach about tip blade:

http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...tml#post362126

I downloaded the .tin file and I´ve practiced trying to follow the nine steps. I´ve asked Bollonga too, because he dealed with the problem before than me. I achieved to do a good mesh. But.. the flow domain in Ralen approach is simpler than than mine, so...is it good idea to make the same approach in my case, I mean, with a semisphere like flow domain near to tip? Anyway, it wouldn´t be exactly the same because my blade tip is a little different.

Thank you in advance!

Hi all,

I´ve been some days off. Now, I´m trying to do Ralen approach in the domain I said the last week. First of all, I did the same approach, I mean, without an o-grid in the bottom side, but I got bad elements in bottom side. Secondly, I´ve tried the same approach but with an o-grid in bottom side and then I´ve tried to do something similar with internal block. Someone knows how to do this with a better aproximations?
