Hi
I have similar problem with my CFD 3d curve, however I'm using the S814 Airfoil, and I keep getting the same error: "Error reading coordinates file" my cordinate file and a image is capturd in ansys is attached, I'm not quite sure what is wrong with my airfoil coordinates as it does not create 3D curve. Appreciate all the helps in advance. |

Delete the last point (last line with point # 61), it is duplicated. Only left 60 points.

You can split your airfoil in two lines (upper and lower). You text file looks like:
#Group Point X_Cord Y-cord Z-cord 1 1 0.00000 0.00000 0 . . . 1 31 1.00000 0.00000 0 #Group Point X_Cord Y-cord Z-cord 2 1 0.00000 0.00000 0 . . . 2 31 1.00000 0.00000 0

but wouldnt it change the airfoil's shape ? cause the shape of the airfoil is like the one in the attachment...so i dont really know if at the leading edge exactly at the origin. sorry that im asking too many questions.. |

it will not change the shape at all.. You have to take the coordinates of the upper surface and lower surfaces separately, starting from 0.0 until 1.0.
If you feel any difficulty in this method, you can manually join the airfoil lower point with the trailing edge by using my previous advice.

Hello everybody,
i am a new user to Ansys Workbench 18.2. And i am also a new user to this great CFD Forum which i found. This is my first post in this forum, so I'd like to apologize for any inconvenience. Please just correct me :-). I am from Germany but i use the english language in Ansys. I have to create a NACA2412 profil with the DesignModeler in Ansys. When i select Create -> Point -> Coordinate File and Coordinate Unit: Meter i get the follow warning: "Warning: One or more points exceed modeler's size box Context: Point Feature Point1" But if i select Millimeter as Coordinates Unit i don't get this warning. This is the first thing what seems strange to me. When i want to create a 3D Curve and select the Coordinates Files i get the Error: Error reading Coordinates File. Here, it doesn't matter if i chose meter or milimeter. I get the error with both settings. In the appendix you can find the txt file of the point-coordinates an a screenshot of the Points created in Ansys. Sorry but my english isn't that perfect. I am very grateful for any help. Kind regards Daniel |
