Sure, I will be talking to marketing about these videos next week... We will figure out some way to help more users see them...
As for tips, there are lots of little things I could suggest... For instance the first minute could be done with a single click of auto-associate. We can talk more about those sorts of things later.

Hi Simon
Thank-you for encouragement. I will learn more working with you, still I am lacking in finishing touches. Moreover I have turned on the full screen in Camtasia Studio, but I don't why I am not getting full tool-bar. This might be due to HD video conversion at latter stage. I try to improve the things as you suggest me, like where to slow down, where to speedup, time saving in auto-association. Many things to learn . I am also planning to make tutorial on the mesh refinement tool, you have just made available. Also some tutorials on scripting language. I have in mind to work on more complex shapes, like wind-turbines, full aircraft (with wings, fins, straks etc), turbo-machinery (axial, radial, mixed, volute etc) and submarines. mutizone and hybrid meshing techniques are also on the to-do list. |

Hi,
Firstly thanks to Far, for posting a nice video on hexa meshing for wing. I am trying to mesh Propeller blade using ICEM CFD. I have done an unstructured mesh for propeller blade (Figure 1). But the mesh quality went down after creating prism layer . So I tried to do structured mesh (Figure 2). Propeller blade has a sharp trailing edge. My Propeller is backward curved with cambered airfoil and it has totally 11 blade with a periodic angle of 32.727 degree. Initially I created a domain (Figure2) and made the vertex as periodic. I followed the same step as far explained in his video of hexa meshing for wing. I made two horizontal (at pressure and suction side)and vertical split ( at leading and trailing edge). then I associated edge to curve of the blade and created O-block around the blade( Figure 3 & 4). then made a split in the trailing edge O-grid and associated the vertex to trailing edge point. But the quality of mesh at the trailing edge and the tip of the propeller was bad. you can see the bad elements in figure 5. I maintained all the block and O-grid within the tip of the propeller (Figure 4). I thought bad quality elements will disappear if i extend the block up to to the top surface of the domain (figure6). but the number of bad quality elements increased to a huge number (figure 7). I also tried to collapse the trailing edge block, but that has not worked. still i found bad quality elements in the trailing edge and tip of the propeller blade. Please, some one help me to solve this problem. Should I want to follow a different strategy? Here is the tin and blk file of propeller blade. http://jyraphe.isae.fr/file.php?h=R8...009fb057047715 http://jyraphe.isae.fr/file.php?h=R1...99c234dece8e65 Please, Some advice to improve the quality of the mesh. I will attach the Figure 6 & 7 in the next post. . |

I had a look on Hexa trough meshing post. But in my case blade is attached to the hub and i also use periodic boundary. with little knowledge in ICEM CFD I dont know how to capture the blade with quarter O-grid. Could you please explain me a bit more. |

Hi,
I tried O block topology to mesh my geometry but the quality was not good. So I was recommended to try Quarter O-grid. The periodic angle is 32.72727 (11 blades). The flow is along X direction. I drawn Quarter O-grid using four faces. I have attached few pic, Figure1 represents the geomentry, Figure2 - initial block round the peopeller domain. Figure3- quater O-grid by using four faces (inlet face, outlet face, left side periodic face, bottem face), Figure4-after asssociation of vertex with points. face, two periodic faces and outlet face). I don't known how to fix the quarter O-grid to capture the propeller blade geometry. I have seen some post about Meshing wind turbine but I didn't get an idea to mesh my geometry. It will be great if will be great if someone help me to fix my problem. I have attached my geometry and blk file in the following link. Geometry file http://jyraphe.isae.fr/file.php?h=R5...44f48e5c361015 Block file http://jyraphe.isae.fr/file.php?h=R7...9c816d30ae511e project file http://jyraphe.isae.fr/file.php?h=R0...6e5ea47498ce4d Thanks in advance for your information. please help me to mesh this geometry. I am trying for the past 1month to mesh this geometry. |

Dear venkatesh
Did you solve this problem? I face the same problem as you. I will appreciate if you have some idea to solve it. Best regards, Ye |

Hi,
you can search for the thread on 'Quarter O-grid topology for propeller blade'. Far has given a nice idea to deal in the case of meshing propeller blade |

For propeller blade. I am very new to ICEM and I am working on a marine propeller for my project work.
