Hello,

I have recently started learning to mesh with ANSA. I am currently trying to mesh the geometry as seen in picture 1, using the hexa block module. view101.jpg

The issue I am having is getting a good coverage with hexa blocks without getting sharp angles etc. In the first attempt I associated an edge with the a face on the cylinder and the back of the 'ring'. Which produced a curved edge resulting in a poor element. sharpAngle01.jpgsharpAngle301.jpg

In my second approach I used more hexa blocks and got a good fit along the geometry, except some wedge shaped hexa blocks. view3_hex03.jpg.

If anyone has any tips on how to approach this type of geometry I would really appreciate it. I know it is possible to get a decent mesh on as I have managed to do it in a different software.

Thanks!

I managed to get a decent mesh on the geometry.

There was a module under hexa block > special tools > Tubular modeling which great for this type of geometry. Beta CAE systems on youtube had a video tutorial which proved to be very useful called "Structured hexa meshing for tubular geometries" (https://youtu.be/4HrfrV2j2Ss?feature=shared).
