School of Mechanical Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar is going to conduct a course on ‘Computational Acoustics: Engineering and Scientific Approaches’ during May 23-June 3, 2016. The course has been approved under the MHRD Scheme on Global Initiative on Academic Network (GIAN).
Course Contents (1) Introduction: Computational Aeroacoustic problems in aerospace, automobiles and electronics applications; Key attributes of acoustic fields, Governing equations (2) Algorithm overview: High-resolution, physical dispersion relation preserving (DRP) scheme, Global spectral analysis (3) Spatial discretization: Compact schemes, spectrally optimized DRP schemes, High accuracy central schemes and their centrality for acoustics problem computed from first principle. (4) Temporal discretization: Two versus multi-time level time integration schemes, Metrics of scientific computing; Error dynamics: dispersion, dissipation, aliasing, focusing error components. (5) Post-processing of acoustic solutions: Ffowcs-Williams-Hawkings (FWH) method and wavelet analysis, Empirical mode decomposition: POD, DMD representations. (6) Computational HPC issues: Massively parallel computers and data management, Applications in the automobile and the aerospace sectors, Multi-dimensional filters in acoustics problem (7) Tutorials: Solution of acoustic wave propagation problem.

Participants must register for the course on the following link before 1st May 2016. http://www.gian.iitkgp.ac.in/GREGN Participants should further submit a Demand Draft favouring CEP IIT Bhubaneswar by 15th May 2016 to the Course Coordinators. The participants will be provided an accommodation in the Institute hostel on payment basis at a concessional price. Food, travel and accommodation charges will be borne by the participants.
