Using CFD to Improve Valve and Pump Performance

CFD ads often amaze us by showing flows over racing cars,advanced aircraft or other objects that we can easily relate to. In contrast, CFD is also used to improve the performance of valves and pumps, seemingly more mundane applications. However, valves and pumps are found in almost all fluid systems, so the additive impact of these performance improvements can be significant.

In this narrated interview, engineers at Maruyama Mfg. Co., Inc, a leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery and industrial pumps, discuss how Cradle SC/Tetra CFD simulations were used to improve a pressure control valve and a uniflow pump for an agricultural power sprayer.
