Saipem UK Selects EFD.Lab Engineering Fluid Dynamics Software for Autodesk Inventor
(14 November 2007) –Saipem UK has selected Flomerics’ EFD.Lab engineering fluid dynamics software for the analyses of transportation barges, construction and drilling vessels, and deck structures. “We have been using traditional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to analyze our Autodesk Inventor solid models for the last couple of years. But we found the analysis process too time consuming because our software was unable to meet the rigorous demands of our development timescale. EFD.Lab on the other hand matches our needs for shortened design time and ease-of-use,” said Dr. Zafer Ayaz, Naval Architect. “As a market-leading contractor in the oil and gas industry, Saipem is on the forefront of technological innovation. Their Naval Architecture Group handles a wide range of projects; therefore, we are very pleased to see that EFD.Lab fits within their design process effortlessly and offers them the analysis power they need,” added Gary Carter, Flomerics’ CEO. Saipem is the largest and most powerful turnkey contractor in the oil and gas industry. Saipem enjoys a superior competitive position for the provision of engineering, procurement, installation and construction (EPIC) services to the oil industry. They focus on the toughest and most technologically challenging projects such as activities in remote areas, deepwater, gas and difficult oil.
