For electronics cooling, component temperature is a critical design requirement. However, during the design process, understanding the flow of energy is essential for knowing how to modify the design to achieve the target temperatures. HeatPathView is a visualization utility used in two Cradle CFD software products. HeatDesigner is specialized electronics cooling thermal analysis software, and scSTREAM is general purpose, structured grid, CFD software that is also often used for electronics cooling. HeatPathView enables electronics thermal engineers to manage heat dissipation at the component level and understand heat balances and heat paths in an intuitive graphical format.
The story about the development and features of HeatPathView can be viewed in this interview with Jun Eto, the leader of the HeatPathView development team at Cradle.
