CD-adapco renews Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC) membership

New York and London. July 29, 2014

CD-adapco™, the largest privately held CFD focused provider of Computer Aided Engineering software, today announced its renewed membership with the Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC), the first public-private partnership focused exclusively on the unique needs of the medical device community. MDIC made tremendous progress in the first year by bringing together the key players in the field of Computational Modeling and Simulation (CM&S). This momentum will drive collaborations between industry, academics, non-profits and regulatory agencies. This allows CD-adapco to demonstrate the power of its CM&S tools in the support of benchtop testing and clinical trials, and to further develop its capabilities to serve this emerging market.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, MDIC is designed to create a collaborative environment where industry, government, non-profits and other experts can work together to advance pre-competitive medical device innovation. MDIC focuses on regulatory science: the tools, standards, and approaches that are used to assess a product’s safety, effectiveness, and performance. By fostering breakthroughs in regulatory science, MDIC aims not only to improve how medical devices are developed and evaluated, but also to reduce the time and cost of bringing new devices to market.

Advancing the use of simulation in the medical device industry is a key priority for MDIC. Simulation technology has the potential to revolutionize the field, enabling manufacturers and regulators to develop and test medical devices more quickly, with greater confidence, and at lower cost—giving patients faster, safer access to innovative, high-quality treatments. CD-adapco is proud to bring its expertise and resources to the table in this important work.

About the Medical Device Innovation Consortium

The Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC) is the first-ever public-private partnership created with the sole objective of advancing the regulatory science of medical devices. Formed in late 2012, MDIC brings together representatives of the government, industry, and nonprofits to improve the process of developing and assessing new medical technologies for the benefit of patients. Members of MDIC share a vision of providing U.S. citizens with timely access to high-quality, safe and effective medical devices without unnecessary delay.
